Scuba Junkie is a rapidly growing dive center located in Borneo that provides daily dive trips to one of the premiere dive sites in the world: Sipadan. While traveling through Southeast Asia I befriended the owners and agreed to build them a website that would serve two functions. First, provide accurate information about diving in the area, best means of transport, accommodations, etc. Second, Sipadan is a protected marine reserve and thus only allows a limited amount of people to the island each day. For divers, it is essential to reserve space ahead time unless you want to spend your vacation waiting for a permit to open up. With this in mind, we setup an online registration tool which allows divers to book space at Sipadan through Scuba Junkie. The entire site runs off a custom-built Django app, allowing the owners to make content updates to the site without any knowledge or need for HTML, CSS, etc. The design was done in-between dives at Sipadan, and obviously influenced accordingly.

About This Site

Hi there. I'm Kai: a graphic designer focused on building usable websites following current web-standards. I currently live in Half Moon Bay, CA, though I recently spent eighteen months working, living, and traveling through Asia. On this blog you'll find my portfolio , a journal section in which I write about and link to things that interest me, as well as photos that are cross-posted to Flickr.
